To dance is to belong

A Journey of Self Discovery

About me

I’m Rotem, a registered dance/movement therapist in the American Dance Therapy Association and the Israeli Association for Creative Arts Therapies. I received a MS in Dance/Movement Therapy from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY and a BA in Psychology and Communication from Tel-Aviv University, Israel. Dance and movement are my most natural forms of expression.

I dedicate myself to deepening my understanding of dance and the connection of it to the human experience. I’m a dancer in multiple dance styles including hip-hop, dancehall, afrobeats, waacking, krump, vouging, ballet, contemporary, jazz and more.

I specialize and find the most joy and fulfillment in the improvisational experience – a brave space for the unknown where everything can be expressed in the safety of the music and the rhythm. I incorporate my eternal love for dance, music and self discovery with a holistic person-centered view of mental health and personal growth, to create a space for expression, exploration, internal connection, strengthening life skills and community building.

I gained experience working with different populations:  adolescents in schools, clients in inpatient/outpatient psychiatric units, and clients in substance use program on different stages of recovery. I facilitate both individual and group sessions and am open to working in person or virtually. The sessions don’t require movement experience and are built based on the client’s needs and their personal pace. I support clients’ process with empathy, patience, openness and curiosity. Along with movement and verbal processing, I incorporate different mind-body modalities such as meditation and focusing to enhance bodily awareness, self regulation and emotional processing.
